Operation: "Rolling Thunder"

The Golden Arrow District will be trying something new at the 2007 Spring Camporee. The entire Camporee will be conducted in the dark of night.

Operation: Rolling Thunder is based upon secret agents and covert operations. The Camporee site will be swarming with young "secret agents" (scouts) doing their best to accomplish several fun but challenging "Night Missions." Each patrol may be accompanied by an advisor/observer (an adult from their unit) for safety purposes. All other adults, other than those on staff, will not be permitted to be in the program area.

Scouts will be given secret orders that will direct them to their first night mission (event). They will be directed to a total of 10 Night Missions (including a midnight snack). After each completed night mission, they will be given sealed orders directing them to their next mission.

Operation: Rolling Thunder will begin at 7 p.m. with an opening campfire briefing. All missions should be completed by 1:30 a.m. and troops back in their camp sited and quiet by 2 a.m.

General Notes:

BE PREPARED

  • Low impact camping should be adhered to and "Leave No Trace" methods should be used.

  • Each unit is responsible for its camping area, unit equipment and all meals.

  • Each unit is responsible for its own trash/garbage. No trash/garbage is to be buried. All trash/garbage must be taken from the Camporee site when you leave on Sunday.

  • Remember to ask permission before entering another units campsite.

  • There will be NO raiding, ambushing or sabotaging another unit or unit site.

Safety is the responsibility of EVERYONE at Camporee.
