During 2007, Troop 740 lost two of its adult leaders. These men loved Scouting and were heavily involved in the orgainziation--in Pack 705, Troop 740 and Order of the Arrow. In fact, both served as Cubmaster of Pack 705 during their son's tenure. They were inspirations not only to their sons, but to other scouts and adult leaders. They will be missed, but the positive impact they had on our scouts and ourselves will stay with us always.

Sam Houston Area Council has a national recognition program for donations of at least $1000 which are made to a permanent endowment known as the James E. West Endowment. A plaque is given to the family and the honoree's name will be etched in a glass display permanently at the scout office.
