LOCATION July 26, 2008, Arrival at Scout House approximated for 5 p.m. As of 3 p.m., still on schedule for 5 p.m. arrival, give or take a few minutes. You will be notified via phone if arrival time changes. July 19, 2008 5 P.M., Scouts have arrived and unloaded. 6 A.M., Scouts prepare for departure. Click here to download a PDF of letter to Parents with specifics about Scout Camp. Click here to download a PDF of packing list. Please go over carefully. Absolute must haves are:
If Scout does not have a water bottle or hat, one will be purchased for him at camp from the funds deposited in his bank. Remember, these funds come from you, they are not part of the Summer Camp payments. Suggested packing for clothes is a footlocker or a duffel bag that can fit under a cot. Backpacks are discouraged due to difficulty in retrieving items. Benefits of footlocker:
Footlocker as pictured below can be found at Academy. When packing, roll each piece of clothing and secure with a rubber band. If using a footlocker, you can stand vertically allowing easy identification of item. Do not nicely fold each piece of clothing. Within minutes of the first time a Scout needs to retrieve an item, those nicely folded clothes will be a jumble, especially if having to dig to the bottom. Another technique for packing a footlocker is to use cardboard boxes to divide into compartments, keeping clothes in one compartment, bedding, etc. in other compartment, and placing items such as flashlights, between compartment and footlocker wall (see picture below). Tents will be provided by the Scout Camp and will be similar to the following, except the "floor" will be wood pallet (click on photos for larger view):

Troop 740 prefers you provide a Class 3; however, any recreational sports or camping lasting over 72 consecutive hours, requires at the minimum a Class 2. The following instructions tell you what is needed for medical forms for camp, what you should fill out, and what the doctor should fill out. In general Troop 740 has everyone fill out a Class 3 medical form each year when they do their physical. The troop also needs a Class 1 form filled out each year which does not require a doctor’s signature, but contains contact information and a release signature. Had a physical this year but no forms? If you have had a physical exam by a licensed health care practitioner this year, but you didn’t get your Class 3 form signed, then you need to: 1. Fill out a Class 3 medical form. You will fill out sections I, II, III, IV, and VI. Take or send this form to the doctor who made the examination to fill out and sign sections V and VII.
2.
Fill out a Class 1 medical form
for this year. It does not require a doctor’s signature. Rather, it provides
useful information in case of a problem on a short term campout that
requires a parent or guardian’s signature to allow a doctor to treat, in
case the parent or guardian can’t be reached at the time of the problem. See
Class 1 form for details. Getting a physical between now and camp? If you are going to be getting a physical exam by a licensed health care practitioner then you need to: 1. Fill out a Class 3 medical form. You will fill out sections I, II, III, IV, and VI. Take this form with you to the examination and have the doctor fill out and sign sections V and VII.
2.

If for some reason you are unable to get a physical exam (Class 3) dated within a year of camp’s starting date (since July 20, 2007), you are under 40 years of age, and you have had a physical exam since July 20, 2005, then you are in luck. 1. Fill out a Class 2 medical form. This form requires that you attach a copy of the scout’s physical examination record (doctor’s form or Class 3, signed by the physician) that is less than three years old (since July 20, 2005). If that record is not available (or a few other reasons outlined on the Class 2 form) then the doctor’s signature is required and a few additional lines must be filled out.
2.

If you are 40 and older you must have a Class 3 form that is less than one year old to attend camp. If you cannot get one you will not be going to camp.
